Laptop Project

Introduction

In June 2007, David Walsh from Canada visited Amigos and inspired a new project. David’s idea was to find some laptops through donation for the youth to use during their classes. We are currently looking to obtain the laptops and then to set up a WIFI network in the school. This way we hope to be able to familiarize our youth with computers and the internet, which are both above the financial means of our youth and their families.

Today, literacy skills in computing and the internet are great assets to have and would be very beneficial for the future of our youth. In addition, we hope that this kind of technology will inspire and motivate our youth to make the effort to come to school daily.

Goals

• Teach our youth basic computer skills and familiarise them with the internet.
• Inspire and motivate our youth to come at school.
• Strengthen and broaden international relations between Peruvian youth and our foreign language students.
